Theraputty Fun Exercises

Few years ago, V was a child with a severely poor grip due to muscle weakness. Holding a stack ring was even a big task for her, forget about putting the rings on the stacker even at the age of 2 years.

I introduced Theraputty with some fun exercises to improve her fine motor skills and grip, which I learned from watching Youtube and Google.

Theraputty which is an excellent tool for strengthening hand grip and finger strength helped V a lot in improving her finger strength, fine motor skills, dexterity, sensory awareness and developing good grip.

We started with the Extra soft Theraputty in tan colour, which was extremely challenging for her initially. After working for a couple of years she gained enough strength to practice with firm Theraputty in Blue colour.

Here are our favourite theraputty activities:

  1. Hiding coins, pebbles, beads, small pegs(Be there with child as the loose parts can be choking hazards).
  2. Rolling and making a snake,
  3. Pinching,
  4. Pulling from one hand,
  5. Poking and pressing from index finger,
  6. Holding in the palm and squeezing,
  7. Rolling with one hand or both hands to encourage bilateral hand use.

Theraputty is easily available in Amazon.
